Pay Per Click

Pay-per-click (PPC), well known as cost per click (CPC),  an web marketing advertising model used to direct traffic to websites, where an web advertiser pays a publisher ( a website owner) when the ad is clicked.

Pay-per-click is commonly associated with search engines (Google AdWords and Microsoft Bing Ads). Where advertisers makes bids on keyword, keyword phrases relevant to their own market.

In contrast, content sites commonly charge a fixed price per click rather than use a bidding system. PPC “display” advertisements, also known as “banner” ads, are shown on web sites that has related content and have agreed to show ads and are typically not pay-per-click advertising.
Social networks likes Facebook and Twitter have adopted this pay-per-click system.

PPC advertising model is often used in click fraud, but Google and others have implemented good automated systems to protect against this kind of abuse.
